2021 Bathroom Trends All Homeowners Should Know About

As we head towards the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, lots of homeowners are beginning to wonder what the next 12 months will bring in terms of interior design trends.

If you’re planning on redesigning your bathroom or kitchen, both of which can be costly, in the next few months, you will undoubtedly want to ensure that the design you create is going to be both timeless and also in line with what we can expect to see next year. So, our team here at Hawk K&B have looked into what many interior designers are predicting trend wise for 2021. Below we have put together a list of trends specifically relating to bathrooms that all homeowners should know about.

Metallic detailing

This is a trend that has been around for a couple of years now, but it isn’t going anywhere. Many have been using metallic hardware throughout their home and next year, we are likely to see an increase in gold products. Things such as taps, light fixtures and all bathroom accessories are expected to be featuring this classic metallic finish.

Open showers

It is likely that as we head into 2021, many will be ditching the traditional shower enclosure and going for something slightly more open plan. We can expect to see a cross between wetrooms and bathrooms with homeowners opting for open showers. It is likely that any shower doors will be frameless and designed to blend into the background.

Terrazzo-patterned tiles

You will probably have seen this pattern before, but you may not have known what it was called. Terrazzo-pattern tiles first became popular back in 2019, but it is expected that they will be back in full force next year and some may even be covering both the walls and floor with this pattern. It is likely that neutral and monochrome colours will be the most popular too.

Big mirrors

For many, mirrors are essential in the bathroom and next year, these mirrors will be bigger and better than before. Round mirrors have been incredibly popular this year and whilst these aren’t necessarily being replaced, they will be joined by big rectangular mirrors. It is likely that the frames on these mirrors will be smaller and less of a statement too.

Natural accessories

Bringing the outdoors in has been big for homeowners this year and house plants are continuing to rise in popularity. Whilst you may currently have plants in your living room, next year it is likely that people will be bringing them into the bathroom too. Biophilic design has been used a lot in commercial properties in the past but, in 2021, this trend is coming to bathrooms.

Freestanding baths

It is fair to say that freestanding baths have been around for decades now and they remain a big trend in bathrooms. Soft lines and minimalism are here to stay for the next year and freestanding baths will remain a focal point in bathrooms. Many will be looking into natural coloured stones rather than stark white baths as well.
